3b. Unsustained good practice...a possible solution strategy
Teachers whose regular use of the target language has lapsed need to re-assess the value of focusing on the good practice they once practiced. They are not always aware that their practice has changed.
Key structures and processes which help avoid losing sight of the good practice that once existed include:
- active participation in self-review and evaluation
- systems of supported self review e.g. mentoring by a colleague
- use of department planning time to devise strategies to boost the use of the target language learning
- use of assessment for learning strategies
- development of a bank of shared activities that make full use of target language.
