2b. Inconsistency of usage...a possible solution strategy
The important thing is to achieve consistency of approach so that learners benefit and have raised expectations about how and when they will use the target language. This can be achieved by:
- using lesson observations and departmental discussion to identify existing good practice, and by ensuring its dissemination
- agreeing with colleagues, over time, to create a bank of target language phrases to be used for:
- instructions and explanations
- evaluating the quality of work
- praise and reward
- correcting behaviour
- sharing objectives
- reviewing learning.
