Objectives and intended outcomes

Evidence suggests that the target language is used inconsistently across schools and sometimes within departments.

This short e-learning unit considers the development of the effective use of the target language in MFL.

What's to be gained by greater target language usage? Maximising the use of the target language has been shown to:

• improve listening skills
• give a sense of culture
• create real language contexts
• develop role models.

As a consequence, learners will become more confident to try things for themselves and they will become more independent.
