MFL learning unit: Modelling

In developing a strategy you are looking for relevant and suitable opportunities to use modelling in your lessons to enhance learning. Here you are asked to consider how a range of modelling skills and processes might be best applied or developed further for specific learning needs. From this you will develop your own modelling practice.

Select each video clip opposite and look carefully at the teacher's use of modelling. Analyse the techniques by answering the following questions.

What skills, processes and procedures are being modelled?
How does the teacher make the decisions behind the task clear to the learners?
After modelling the activity, how does the teacher scaffold the learning to move learners towards being independent in their learning?
How do the learners respond during the session?
