Both examples feature specialist coaching combined with co-coaching. In the Year 8 Spanish example, the coach suggests the focus and gives some specialist advice about drama in languages prior to the lesson. She also suggests that the coachee could access additional specialist expertise from the AST in drama. Both coach and coachee then operate a co-coaching model for the rest of the process.
The Year 9 German example begins on a co-coaching model ('working in tandem'), with the focus for the observation suggested by the coachee and refined in discussion. Coach and coachee then agree that the coach will provide specialist guidance and feedback on relevant aspects of pedagogy, linking the focus of the lesson to the school's strategic priorities for teaching and learning.
