Coaching in modern languages

Introduction

Using the online module

This professional learning programme is for teachers of modern languages to develop over time their skills and strategies in coaching and collaborative CPD.

It has been designed with maximum flexibility so that users can select a specific aspect, feature or skill and work to improve it.

Though the module can be used by individuals, for the purpose of applying the knowledge and skills covered, it works best when used by pairs, trios or groups of teachers from within languages and across subjects.

The module is supported by leadership and management guidance and linked to National Strategy materials. For a list of related Secondary National Strategy Coaching Resources select the Resources button below.

Whenever you see references to a learning log in this module you are being prompted to reflect on and record your experiences of coaching and collaboration, plus examples of good practice to support your languages teaching.

The completion of a learning log offers evidence for the professional recognition of teacher development. The log may be a school-based resource or a personal record. For an e-portfolio which allows you to do this online and some examples go to: www.teachernet.gov.uk/development/ opens in new window
