2. Progress tracking

Progress tracking – term by term

Ongoing assessment lets teachers create an understanding of the progress their children and classes make during a given year. Select the Play button below to view progress made in the 13 scales over three terms. As the children progress during each term more points are achieved in each area, and the graph expands. A text-only version of this screen is available.

We can see where the class is progressing rapidly, where they are progressing slowly and at what points this happens. These graphs are usually used in a formative, rather than summative manner, providing valuable information about the strengths and weaknesses of groups and individuals that will help support teachers. They will also indicate where provision is currently strong and where it might be improved.

Try to look at individual assessment scales as the graph cycles through the terms to see the progress in that area compared to others. Is it illustrative of any other deeper issues like provision or context?
