This section will outline various methods and issues with regard to progress tracking with Early Years data. In particular we will examine how Early Years Foundation Stage Profile data can be used in a formative way during the reception year.

We will look at child achievement within individual areas of learning, and in the context of the development matters statements. We will be referring to the handwritten records of teachers in addition to radar graphs and other analyses. Finally, we will briefly discuss curricular target setting and its relationship with data.
